Question 7

Are there any settings in this novel which you have found to be beautiful? or disturbing? or memorable? Describe these settings and comment on why they were meaningful to you.

This novel took place in the ordinary farm where later changed to the extraordinary farm which the pigs took controlled. Because the setting was just a farm I had hard time feeling which place is beautiful or not. When the people blew up the windmill I thought it was very memorable setting, because I could feel and imagine the dust and the rocks falling everywhere and shock and angry faces of animals, and it was very meaningful to me because it is the setting when all the work and hope of animals in Animal Farm change to a tiny little dust.
The other setting, which I have found to be, disturbing is when pigs acting like people and walking around with only two feet. I was so socked and disgusted when I imagine pigs smoking and walking around with two feet and hitting and killing animals, and talking to people and can read and write.
The only part where I have found to be beautiful is right after when the animal succeed the revolution and looked around and enjoyed their liberty.

The last quote of this book was very significant and meaningful to me. I think it is because that quote shows the point of this book the most, which is the criticizing the Russia at that time. I was very impress to read the author’s work when the Russia was the powerful country and he described Russia without any false and criticized the country called Russia. I could not hide my keen eye respect to this belief and soul of the author of this book when I read this quote. I felt like electricity flowed though my whole body when I read part of this novel.
This passage is the summary of this whole novel, this passage has all the result of the bad thing that happened in animal farm and criticized them related to the real life in Russia at that time and I was very impressed.
"No question now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." Chapter 10, pg. 118

Question 5

What is the mood of this novel? Do you find this novel saddens you in any way? Why?
The mood of this novel is at first dark reality, and after the revolution the mood changed to happiness, bright, success, and free, but after Napoleon banished Snowball to somewhere else the mood changed to dark, unfair, unexplainable, unacceptable, and weird. When the pigs started to act like people that freaked me out. First of all it was not possible for pig to stand on to feet and talk, write, and talk with people.
When the animal society changed to not equalized community I felt sad, because all the propose of the revolution is to be equal and live peaceful life but after Napoleon became the dictator Animal farm, pigs became the owner of the farm and they killed animal like people, and that showed me that the revolution was all mistake to make and there is no more peace in this world that will last forever and that is very sad and scary.

Question 4

The climax of this novel is the part when Napoleon tried to kill Snowball for not being cooperated in his opinion. Napoleon and Snowball begun a power struggle for leadership. When Snowball announces his idea for a windmill, Napoleon quickly opposes it. Snowball makde a passionate speech in favour of the windmill, then Napoleon summoned his nine attack dogs tried to kill Snowball. In Snowball's absence, Napoleon declares himself leader and makes changes.
At first, I was shocked because I was not expecting this kind of situation to happen in the Animal farm, and I slowly understood that this situation was happening was the reality in this world that happens everyday weather it is good or bad. I started to feel scary because there is some posibility, which this can be happen to me and maybe I can be like Napoleon. So, I after thinkin those kind of situation that is related to me I started to think that I should respect other opinion first even though I don’t agree, and be a good person.

Who are the main characters in the novel? Do you like them? why or why not? What is special about them? What do they reveal about the universal human experience?
The main characters in the novel are the Napoleon, Snowball, Squealer, Boxer and Old Major. Napoleon is the pig who actually banished the pig called Snoball with his raised dogs, and became the dictator of the animal in Animal farm. Snowball is the another pig who was banished by Napoleon and he was the one who emphsized the equalism between every animals. Squealer is the other pig who was talented to persuate the animals in the Animal farm, he was very useful character to Napoleon to control the Animal farm in his way. Boxer is the hores who worked his best on everything, but sadly met the death in the slaughterhouse because of the selfish pigs who thinks that they are not animals anymore. Old Major is the pig who simulate the animals to practice the revolution. I personally like Boxer the most and I like Snowball, too. Boxer, the reason I like him is that he is very faitful and cute, even though he is not that smart he had the deepest heart and deepest thinking. Snowball was the one who I think was the most capable to be the leader of the Animal farm, becaous he was the animal who has the most logical thinkings. The other character that I mensioned was the one I don’t like except Old Major because I don’t have any feelings toward him. Napoleon is the one who reveals the most evil mind in this novel, Suealer is the one who sticks to Napoleon and be the bad animal.
They reveal the reallity of human life, the one who is in the good side and the one who is in the bad side. In this human society every group has the bad side and good side.

Question 2

Are there are any current situations in the world that relate to the novel? What are they, and how do they relate? Does the novel shed any light on how current situations could be resolved or "fixed"?
Every day on the Earth, where people are living, there is the situations that are related to this novel. Every person in the world has the part in his or her mind that is evil and bad and selfish, because we are not perfect like God. There was genocide in Africa, few years ago, because of the not equalized society. The Hutus, which are the people in higher class, was attacked by the Tutsis, which are the people in lower class. The scary part is that they are both Africans like in the book Animal Farm, the pigs and other animals are also animals, but they are not equalized.
For my opinion, this novel symbolized the Russian Revolution. The revolution that the animal made by attacking the human owner called Mr. Jones, was symbolizing the Russian Revolution, which the people banished the last emperor Nicolai second.
This novel, unfortunately, didn’t shed any light on how this situations could resolved, this book ended with realization of animals that the faces of the pigs now look almost exactly like the faces of humans and they can no longer easily tell the difference between them.

Question 1

What is the major theme of this novel? Why is this theme important to a teenager living in 2007?
I read the book called Animal Farm. This book describes the unacceptable but real life in this world. Especially the people who have evil mind to control everything and have all the thing that they want even though they know that it is wrong things to do. The author describe that part of peoples’ mind to the pigs in the animal farm after the pig called Napoleon became the leader and the owner of the Manor farm. Before the pig called Snowball was banished, and after the revolution, every animal in Animal Farm (after the revolution, animal renamed the Manor farm to Animal Farm) was equal. The animal in Animal Farm made the seven commendment of animalism, and the most important commendment was “all animals are equal”, but after Napoleon banished Snowball with his dangerous dogs that he raised, the pigs had the highest place at the Animal farm and they controled all the power in the farm and keeped every thing they wanted, even though it was not fare. The major theme of this novel is to critisize the people who only see their own good and own pain and be selfish.
Teenager is the future of the society, and this theme is very important to them to know. Now a days, there is countless of teenager in the world who don’t know how to aperciate to people who help them to be successful and there is a lot of teenagers who only think about themselves, which is very scary and unaceptable. In the future society everyone in the world have to be equal and every one have to think about other people, too. They have to know what is good and what is bad and they have to practice not to do bad things but do good things.
